WHERE ARE THE FILIPINO MASONS OF TODAY?
Today our country is faced with so many uncertainties. Corruptions in government, questionable elections results, violations of human rights, abuse of authority , are major concerns which have destroyed the very principles our fore fathers have fought for. Concerns which have been taken for granted by a big number of Filipinos, concerns which have been denounced by civic, business and religious organizations, concerns which have destroyed the very moral fiber of our society.
We have been exchanging thoughts and ideas on why our country, the Philippines, have not moved forward, have been over taken by other Asian Countries, where the poor gets poorer and the rich get richer, where families have to be separated because heads of families have to work abroad.
We Masons are so proud of our history. We talk proudly how Filipino Masons led revolutions against Spain, how Filipino Masons led the Philippines to freedom and independence. We proudly share articles on the legacy of Filipino Masons in Philippine history.
In recent history, we Masons were proud on the roles played by Masons particularly the EDSA Revolution.
Prior to the latest scandal that rocked our country, Masons were in the front line who exposed the ills in government which led us to our present state. I am referring to BRO. SAMMY ONG, BRO. BOY GUDANI, BRO. ALEX BALUTAN, BRO. DANNY LIM.
The “Lozada Testimony” has provided the spark that ignited the prairie fire that is threatening to incinerate the very cause of these uncertainties. And right before our eyes the “fire fighters” are exerting their utmost best to extinguish the fire.
The “Lozada Testimony” has strengthened what BROTHERS ONG, GUDANI, BALUTAN and LIM earlier exposed.
This is not about POLITICS nor about FREEMASONRY as a fraternity but individual Filipino Masons of today. This is the future of our country which is on the line. This is about the future of our children – the future of the next generation. It is up to the individual’s perception of events to make his decision and answer these questions.
How shall we now answer the question “WHERE ARE THE FILIPINO MASONS OF TODAY?”
Will the Filipino Masons of today just be fence sitters?
Will the Filipino Masons of today continue the legacy of fore fathers who stood up and fought for what is morally right?
Will the Filipino Masons of today be proud of what they did at the time the Philippines needed them?
Brethren this is the only country we have. Please pass this email to the brethren as a sign of your concern as a Filipino.
It is about time that we revisit, read once again and internalized the speech of MW REYNATO S. PUNO, PGM and CHIEF JUSTICE during the 109th Independence Day celebration.
Thank you and may the GAOTU bless, guide and strengthen every Filipino Mason withersoever dispersed.
Fraternally yours,
Bro. Ben Apacible
